Ⅰ. Spray Paint Waste Gas Source and Treatment Process
During the spraying operation, liquid paint forms atomized particles under air pressure and volatilizes organic pollutants such as benzene, toluene and xylene. Such waste gas features high concentration and fine particle size (mostly less than 10μm). Direct discharge will cause harm to the ecological environment and human health. To meet environmental protection requirements, Zhonghuan Lvzhou adopts a combined process of water spray pretreatment and activated carbon adsorption purification to realize efficient treatment and stable compliant discharge of spray paint waste gas.

Ⅱ. Technological Flow of Spray Paint Waste Gas Treatment
Waste gas path: Spray paint waste gas → Water curtain cabinet → Water spray waste gas treatment tower → Primary activated carbon adsorption equipment → Secondary activated carbon adsorption equipment → Induced draft fan → High-altitude compliant discharge
Ⅲ. Description of Spray Paint Waste Gas Treatment Process
Water Curtain Cabinet Pretreatment
As the first treatment procedure, spray paint waste gas enters the water curtain cabinet. Most paint mist and soluble pollutants are effectively removed through water curtain interception and washing, laying a foundation for subsequent purification procedures.
Water Spray Waste Gas Treatment Tower
The waste gas further flows into the water spray tower. Sufficient gas-liquid contact is realized through multi-layer spraying and packing layers to remove residual paint mist, reduce dust and lower temperature, which significantly reduces the operating load of the subsequent activated carbon equipment.
Two-stage Activated Carbon Adsorption System
Granular activated carbon is used as the adsorption medium with a specific surface area ranging from 500 to 1500m²/g, possessing excellent adsorption performance.
Two-stage adsorption structure is adopted for gradual purification to ensure the adsorption efficiency of low-concentration and high-air-volume organic waste gas.
Activated carbon has strong adsorption capacity for VOCs such as benzene, toluene and xylene. The purified gas is discharged from the chimney at high altitude after reaching the emission standard.
Air Induction System
A pressurized induced draft fan is equipped to provide stable power for the airflow in the whole system, ensuring fully enclosed collection and treatment without gas leakage.
Ⅳ. Emission Standard of Spray Paint Waste Gas
The treated waste gas strictly complies with the second-period limit value of Emission Standard of Volatile Organic Compounds for Furniture Manufacturing Industry (DB 44/814-2010) in Guangdong Province:
Benzene emission concentration <1mg/m³
Toluene and xylene emission concentration <20mg/m³
Total VOCs emission concentration <30mg/m³
Discharge mode: High-altitude discharge at a height of 15 meters above the ground
Ⅴ. Technical Characteristics
The combination of water spray and activated carbon adsorption features mature technology, strong applicability and convenient operation and maintenance.
The two-stage activated carbon structure improves adsorption efficiency and is suitable for low-concentration and high-air-volume waste gas.
The equipment has simple structure and low energy consumption with low investment and operating cost, which is suitable for small and medium-sized spraying enterprises.
