Odor control and acid and alkali waste gas purification project in the chemical industry

Project Overview

A certain fine chemical enterprise in North China generates mixed organic waste gas and acidic gases such as hydrogen chloride during the production process, with a prominent odor problem that troubles the surrounding environment.

Solution

In view of the complex composition of the waste gas, we have designed an integrated device of "alkali washing spray + activated carbon adsorption + catalytic desorption". The waste gas first enters the spray tower, where acidic gases are removed through the absorption of alkaline solution. Subsequently, it enters the integrated device of activated carbon adsorption and catalytic desorption to adsorb and purify the organic waste gas, and is discharged up to standard. The saturated activated carbon is desorbed by hot air. The high-concentration waste gas desorbed is decomposed into CO₂ and H₂O at low temperature under the action of a catalyst.

Project achievements

The unpleasant odors in the factory area and its surrounding areas have been fundamentally eliminated, and the emission concentration of non-methane total hydrocarbons has been stably up to standard. This integrated device realizes the online regeneration of activated carbon, reduces the generation of hazardous waste and lowers the operating costs for customers.
